Dr. Assaad El-Hakim: Robotic Surgery

Dr. Assaad El-Hakim performed Montréalʼs first robotic radical prostatectomy at the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal, a first for Québec. This innovation involves a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of prostate cancer - the most common cancer (by incidence) in men - through the use of robotic surgical instrumentation. Dr. El-Hakim is a urologist with extensive training (in the US) in the robotic treatment of urological cancers, the first Canadian with this specialized training.
