Assisting young adults prepare for the responsibilities of family life
Riverview also runs activities for alumni and other working men. Activities include get-togethers, evenings of recollection, courses for young professionals and many others.
Activities for Young Professionals
Young men who are no longer students are also welcome at Riverview. Since 2015, the Riverview Young Professionals had evenings of study of the Social Doctrine of the Church with an emphasis on papal encyclicals, from Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum (1893) to Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ (2015).
During the fall session of 2016 and winter of 2017, Dr. Leslie Tomory guided the study and analysis of the development of doctrine in the Catholic Church, during a series entitled Change and Continuity: Development of Doctrine in the Catholic Church. In subsequent meetings, we analyzed the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church from the perspective of important documents that were produced after the Second Vatican Council.
Evenings of recollection for young parents and alumni are organized on a monthly basis.
A recollection is an occasion to stop and reflect in the presence of God. They are meant to help fathers go deeper into the meaning of their faith in their daily lives.
You can download here (PDF) the current program of recollections.
